日本でも絶大な人気を誇る、イギリスを代表する合唱界の巨匠ジョン・ラッター（1945-/ジョン・ラター）。ラッターの自主レーベル「Collegium（コレギウム）」からの約2年ぶりのニューリリースでは、約10年ぶりとなる自作録音集が登場！今作では、合唱で重要な要素を占める「歌詞」がテーマとなり、ウィリアム・シェイクスピア（15-17）、ウィリアム・ワーズワース（7）、ジェイムズ・ウェルドン・ジョンソン（1）、チャールズ・コーズリー（8-14）ら、偉大な作家・詩人たちのテキストにインスピレーションを受けて作曲されたジョン・ラッターの合唱作品が集められています。ケンブリッジ大学のクレア・カレッジ合唱団を母体としてジョン・ラッターが結成したプロの室内合唱団「ケンブリッジ・シンガーズ」を中心に、メラニー・マーシャルやロデリック・ウィリアムズ、カトリン・フィンチ、ロイヤル・フィルなどの一流のソリストやオーケストラとの共演で、素晴らしき「詩人たちの庭園」を彩ります。

英国に降り立った合唱の神様ジョン・ラッター。全世界の合唱ファン＆関係者が待ち望んだラッターの自作自演による新録音は新しい宗教作品集！この「ソング・イン・シーズン」に収録されている12 曲は、クリスマス、公現祭、聖霊降臨祭、復活祭など教会の年間行事のために1996年から2010年（！）にかけて作曲された新作ばかり。ラッターの自作自演集は2002年にレコーディングされた「子供のミサ」（COLCD 129）以来となるだけに、ケンブリッジ・シンガーズが歌う美しく親しみやすいメロディと色彩豊かで優しいハーモニーとの再会に期待を抱かずにはいられない。ここ日本でも絶大な人気を誇るラッターの合唱作品。この「ソング・イン・シーズン」も合唱団のレパートリー選びや参考演奏としても大いに役立つことだろう。

ビクトリアの名作「６声のレクイエム」の名唱が東欧チェコから届きました。コレギウム419（公式ウェブサイト：http://www.collegium419.cz/en/index.html）は16〜18世紀の音楽を演奏するために創設された、プラハに本拠を置く声楽アンサンブル。チェコのピリオド楽器アンサンブルとの共演も数多く行っています。当録音では全24名が無伴奏で歌っています。
