20世紀オーストリアを生きた後期ロマン派の作曲家ヨーゼフ・マルクスの作品集でイルジー・ビエロフラーヴェクがシャンドスに久々の登壇！家族から法律家としての道を歩むことを強く望まれながらも、音楽の道を突き進んだマルクス。マルクスは本格的な作曲活動を開始したのは26歳からだったが、1908年から1912 年という僅か4年間で約120曲の歌曲を作曲するなど、底知れぬ音楽的才能の持ち主だったことを窺わせるエピソードを持つ。ハイペリオンのR・シュトラウス歌曲集での歌声が話題となったソプラノ歌手ブリューワーをソリストに迎えての首席指揮者ビエロフラーヴェク＆ BBC 響のマルクスの声楽作品集。2つの合唱団、トリニティ少年合唱団、アポロ・ヴォイセズも加わり、この作品集がマルクスの声楽作品の大家という名声と正統な評価、そして"" マルクス・スタイル"" の存在を改めて世に示すという重要な役割を果たすことになる。
